My name is Ravinica. I’m a bog-blood, which is a creative way to say I’m a social pariah and a half-breed. I can’t do magic, which sucks, but I’m pretty fancy with a spear. No one in my village likes me, and that’s okay, because I don’t like them either. Except Anna. She’s cool. At least it’s better than being Damon, my alcoholic skirt-chasing brother.

Every year, Vikingrune Academy selects a single villager to join their ranks, and I’m gunning for it. I yearn for the mythical longship to haul my ass away, so I can learn runeshaping. I’ll also train to fight against humanity’s greatest foe, the elves.

At least that’s what the brochure promises. But honestly? This place is brutal. I have one term to prove myself, or I’m exiled. Annoyingly hot men keep pestering me, and they’re very persuasive. The professors are ruthless. The bullies are worse.
