Miles Butcher, the overly friendly man on the mountain.
Built like a boulder with the brain of a bookworm, I can’t help but be charmed by his pleasant smile.
I even accept his offer to stay in his cabin for a week while I train.
It makes sense, now I don’t have to drive up the mountain each day.

But the more I learn about him, the harder it is to treat this casually.
He’s making me think and feel things that frighten me.
When we talk, I want to spill every secret and insecurity.
I’m a runner, I should be accustomed to things moving fast.
But with Miles, I feel like I’m running a marathon that will never end.
A race that will take me places I’m afraid to go.
I’ve always been alone.
I can do this on my own.
So why can’t I imagine my future without him anymore?
