Olivia was living the quiet lake life until her best friend’s brother moved in next door.
Olivia is a low-key former nurse turned computer nerd who enjoys solitude and her dog companion Frankie.
Luke is an undefeated amateur boxer whose life revolves around training, motorcycles and failed relationships. He also happens to be Olivia’s best friend Cara’s brother.
Luke is nothing like any guy Olivia has ever dated, and she has no plans to start dating anyone any time soon. She has temporarily sworn off men. They’re too needy in her opinion. While somewhat annoyed Luke has just shown up out of nowhere, she knows she’ll have to be the friendly neighbor for Cara’s sake.
Luke seems un-phased with Olivia’s presence. His life is going to the gym, teaching boxing and self-defense classes and getting ready for his next fight. After Olivia performs minor first-aid on one of his battle wounds, Luke becomes intrigued, but they have nothing in common and the conversation they do have turns awkward, leaving them both on edge.
Things get interesting when a friendly bet turns into dinner together and they both seem interested in seeing where things might take them. Things begin well, but as Luke’s lifestyle lands him in the hospital, she realizes she can’t share him with boxing and grows weary of always putting him back together.
Now they just need to figure out how to manage a weekend in Hawaii for Cara’s wedding. The weekend’s events force them into spending time together and eventually Luke and Olivia give in to each other. They both realize it was a mistake. When they return home things go back to how they were before they left. They are both tortured inside but figure it’s for the best.
Luke begins training like crazy for his next fight, but Olivia is constantly on his mind. His fight night arrives and his head is in the clouds. He realizes he’s not ready for the fight and instead he might be ready to let love win.
Lake Neighbor Love is a small-town, slow burn, closed-door, opposites attract romance that you root for from the beginning. The banter will have you smiling and the rough around the edges (but super charming) leading male character and a happily ever after ending will leave you satisfied.
